Salt & Water Co. - Finding Balance for Spring

There is a lightness in the air, a little hope in the mood, and an anticipation that comes with blooming flowers, green grass and warm, sunny days (I think we all need a medal for making it through winter!). As we look at cleaning out the closets and simplifying the house, our routine shifts. We begin eating lighter foods, fresh produce, and smoothies packed with supplements to support our more active lifestyle.  It’s a natural shift that truly brings the seasonal calendar in balance with daily living.

There is something so lovely about a wash of color on the cheeks - that gentle glow from within of a creamy blush. Peach, fleshy pinks and light corals wash a healthy pop of color that brings life to the skin.

Feeling tired? Pop of blush! Dull? Pop of blush! Washed out in photos? Pop of blush! No time for makeup? Pop of blush! You get my drift.

As we continue to mature we tend to lose the color in our faces. Blush is an easy way to get a youthful glow without the fuss. I always recommend a cream blush. You can still apply with a brush if you are not into using your fingers. So myths be busted and give it a try. Modern twist of the smoky eye.

Pops of Color

Lip color can be a little daunting. But oh so fun! It can truly change a look completely. Finding your own perfect pop of color can brighten your eyes, enhance your pearly whites, and bring life to your face. Spring begs for pinks, peaches and hits of coral. There are so many undertones and textures within lip products, so play and experiment until you find one that clicks for you. If you are a hesitant lip color wearer, I recommend starting with a sheer lip oil or gloss to get started before taking the deep dive into full coverage color. Coming out of the cooler months, hydration is key. So keep a healthy glow to the lips.

For the Love of Face Washing

It all starts with skin. Please wash off the day. Our dear environment is full of less-than-pristine air and many pollutants. Our skin, as a living, breathing organ, absorbs the pollutants, but repairs and modifies itself to protect and restore. Cleansing your skin is vital to healthy skin balance.  While wipes can be helpful after the gym or on a long hike, they do not replace manual cleansing. The ritual of face cleansing:

  • Massage cleanser onto skin

  • Emulsify with water

  • Take a deep breath

  • Spend a little time massaging into the skin on the face and neck in order to break down makeup, oils, and pollutants.

  • Double cleanse if wearing full face of makeup

  • Rinse

  • Pat dry

Starting with a clean base will create a foundation for absorption of the serums and creams that we all love so much, allowing them to work to their highest potential.
